Wissahickon Skating Club

I grew up playing hockey at Wissahickon Skating Club (WSC), located in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. My sister was a figure skater, and all three of my children grew up playing hockey there. Bragging rights: my youngest daughter plays NCAA D1 hockey; my son has some seriously silky hands; and I have a slap shot that scares the bejesus out of the old fogies I play with.
During the past 15 years or so, I have volunteered to help out with the club’s marketing, and in 2014, I had the honor of creating the graphics celebrating the 50th anniversary of a tournament the club has played with a team from Ontario, annually since 1964. I played in this tournament when I was a youth, and each of my kids had the opportunity to play in the same tournament some 40 years later. Doesn’t get much better than that…
